Woman Dislocate Jaw From Eating Burger

I remember when I was younger I was watching a Korean drama where an old woman was about to take a bite of an apple when her jaws suddenly dislocates. Ever since I saw that, I made sure I never took a big bite out of anything afraid that my jaws dislocate. Not only is that why I never took a big bite, but also because it’s not good dinner manners…right?

Well here’s a story about a Woman dislocate her jaw from eating a Triple-Patty Burger. Nicola Peate was at a burger restaurant called Almost Famous with her fiance and was attempting to take a bite out of a Triple-Patty Burger when her jaws dislocated.

The dislocation was quite serious as she still felt pain the next day when she went into work. She felt ill the next morning and also suffered a headache and an ear ache.

The medic had to use his thumb in order to put her jaws back into place after the x-ray confirmed that it was dislocated. Nancy said “I didn’t think I’d dislocated it…[ ]” and had no idea it would be dislocated from eating a burger.

Medics took a second x-ray to make sure everything was back in place and normal, and surely enough, it was.

Who’s prone to jaw dislocation?

People can be prone to jaw dislocation from a condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) which means there’s a symptom of overly-flexible joints. Nicola Peate has EDS, therefore, is prone to jaw dislocation.

So the next time you eat a burger, think about this article and try to take bite sized portions. I know I will!
