First Time @ Etta’s Restaurant

I saw Etta’s on my stroll down in Downtown Seattle right where the Pike Marketplace is. After we did a little bit of sight-seeing, we browsed through the restaurants around the area and checked out their menu. I forget the name of the restaurant that was right next to us but what turned us off was the fact that it was packed. I guess that means the restaurant is good, but we didn’t want to wait.

We saw they had appetizing items and a lot of seafood selections on their menu so we decided to try this place out. The hostess greeted us and was very friendly. The waitress was also very friendly and when I accidentally dropped my cup of water on the table, she instantly noticed and helped get the mess cleaned up.

The restaurant had a very romantic atmosphere with the candle lit lamp at the center of the tiny black table and you can look right out the window to do some people watching and just enjoying the scenery which was the ocean in the back.

I ordered the Mussels as an appetizer and I wasn’t too hungry because the Hampton Inn provided us wine and some snacks. The Penn cove mussels is prepared with fennel broth, taragon, and pickled mustard seeds. I thought the mustard seeds were strange at first but my taste buds eventually got used to it and the pickled taste paired well with the mussels. The dish was also served with toasty crunchy garlic bread.

The only thing that I didn’t like about the mussels was that the broth was way too oily and it wasn’t necessary to have so much oil in it.

Salt and pepper fried calamari is made of jalapeno, lime, roasted chili aioli and was served on top of some sort of cheesy sauce. I like spicy food but I tried to avoid the jalapeno and not take the risk. You can taste the spice from the calamari itself and had the right amount of saltines. I like the calamari to be crunchy but I decided to add some lime juice which made it so much better.

What else does Etta’s Have to Offer?

If you’re craving seafood or non-seafood items, Etta’s is a place to go as they offer king salmon, Dungeness crab cakes, washington beef skirt steak, grilled lamb t-bone, pacific albacore, and much more.
Check out their menu for brunch, lunch, dinner, their crabby hour, and dessert menu.

Overall Experience @ Etta’s

My overall experience at Etta’s was quite a good one. I was surprised to see how this place wasn’t too popular to Yelp reviewers but that’s why we are to try a new place and judge for ourselves.
