We were finally here and our road trip to Yellowstone was a success. After a great night at the cabin, we were fully rested and ready to take on the challenge from hikes, animal sightings and much more! We started off the day by hiking the Avalanche Peak Trail which was a long strenuous hike, but the view was so worth it.

After our hike, we stopped by the Yellowstone General Store. You will notice that Yellowstone has an abundance of huckleberry products from chocolates to jams to even soaps. Pay attention to the trails as you will find berries throughout the park. Bears are an icon here so don't be surprised to see grizzly huckleberry paw milk chocolates. Photo: Foodwanderer[/caption] Almost all of the general stores you go to will have a variety of interesting food in a jar. I've never tried sweet relish jam but I assume it tastes like the Heinz relish you put on hotdogs, except much sweeter.

Making a visit to the Park's Store

Photo: Foodwanderer[/caption] The park store is not like a general store because there isn't much convenient foods. Here, you will find educational books for children, maps of the parks and the nearby parks, souvenirs, mugs, book about the park, and small snack items like bison jerky and preserves. The picture doesn't do it justice of it's size and the never ending view of the water. I would say this is more like the Sea of Yellowstone! Once you get lost into the sound of the waves, the warm sun warming you up, and the view of the lake, you can just toss all your stress away.
