I was so excited to return to this cute small town breakfast joint after 2 years. The first time I went to Woodside Bakery was back in 2011 when we stayed in West Yellowstone while visiting Yellowstone National Park. This year, we drove straight 16+ hours to West Yellowstone, but of course, we made occasional rest spots. We decided that we won’t stop for breakfast until we get to Woodside Bakery.
We were SO determined to eat there and when we finally got there, we got to reminisce the memories we made here; The fresh smell of the cinnamon rolls, tourists coming in as well as the locals (My bf actually remembered a local from 2011!) , the usual grumpy store worker (which we always joke about), and just spending time with each other and talking about all the animals we hope to spot and ideas on where to hike.
This bakery may be tiny but it actually has a huge kitchen where the baking magic happens. With a huge baking area, they pop out huge portions of delicious baked goods like cookies, cinnamon buns, bagels that are ginormous, and croissants.
If you want to save a few bucks, you can also choose to buy day old items you get for a discount. We didn’t want to miss the opportunity so we ordered 3 cinnamon buns from their “Thunder Deal!”
I was so excited to order my favorite. You just order from a paper where you can choose from 3 types of bread either croissant, bagel, or their home made toast. Then you get to choose the meat which is ham, bacon, or turkey, then comes the type of cheese from cheddar, provolone, and Swiss. I ordered a croissant sandwich with eggs, bacon, and provolone. It was still delicious just as I remember it. The croissant was flaky and buttery, the bacon was crispy, and the cheese was gooey which made the entire sandwich just perfect.
I also ordered a small coffee and there’s a cute counter for the creamers, lids, napkins, and utensils and you help but admire the pastry pictures on the wall.
Seating area is quite tiny but there are a few tables for 4+ more people and there are also some couches where you can just sit back and relax.
Taking things slowly is one of the things that I liked about West Yellowstone. We need to just slow down from time to time and smell the fresh air, wait for our food a little longer than in the big city, and appreciate everything around you.
Now that fall is here, this bakery is most likely closed but I sure can’t wait until I return here next year!
Woodside Bakery is located at 17 Madison Ave West Yellowstone, MT 59758.
