Dinner After The Getty Museum At Upper West Restaurant

Yay it’s Thursday! Hope you all have been having a good week so far. I cannot believe it’s already Friday tomorrow so I think it’s time to think about restaurants to check out.

I met my friends at the Upper West Restaurant and the interior is quite beautiful. You’ll be surprised to see how such a trendy spot existed in such a random location which is literally on a corner of a busy street when you get off the freeway. I would think a place like this would be located at downtown Santa Monica. We were seated right next to the open window where we got a good view of the street, but was good seating non the less.

My friends ordered the Ahi Tuna Crispy Tacos and was quite small, but it sure looked good! The picture on Yelp was quite deceiving because the the closeup shot of the appetizer looked bigger than in real life. The shell is made of plantain/ rice cracker, and with orange-chipotle vinaigrette and jicama-cucumber salsa. Sounds quite healthy to me!

As I was waiting for my food to arrive, it was a perfect time to order a drink. People that have been here before recommended the Watermelon Mojito so that’s exactly what I ordered. The drink was refreshing from the added mint leaves and the alcohol content was pretty strong. I didn’t really taste the watermelon at all which was disappointing.

Just tasting the quarter of Wild Mushroom Ravioli (since we were all sharing) was quite satisfying because I was able to taste the mushroom, cheese, and the sauce which was garlicky. It’s impressive as it’s made with roasted garlic-veal veloute / truffle / micro basil / local goat cheese.

Every time I see BLT on a menu, I always tend to order that. My friends joke around and asks if I’ll be ordering that every time I go to different eating spots. BLT was on the menu so I just had to get that! I was willing to try something else but the description of the BLT was just so hard to resist. I just crave that toasty goodness from the toast and awesome crispy bacon! The bacon was cut thick and was crispy, just the way I like it.

I really enjoyed the potato chips what came with the order and what made it more awesome was that it was homemade and extra flavorful and crunchy. I was sharing it with my friend and he was the first to dip the chips into ketchup. Instead of fries, they gave us home made chips which you can dip into the ketchup with.

Upper West Restaurant is located at 3321 Pico Blvd Santa Monica, CA 90405 which was right off the freeway. They offer valet parking which is probably your best bet since there’s literally no where to park. The street parking is taken over by the valet people.
