Happy Thursday! I’m having another one of those Yellowstone reminiscing moments so I wanted to share a small town Montana breakfast joint called Two Bit Saloon. For our Yellowstone trip last year, we were looking for a breakfast place that was open early. We tried to see if other places were opened but it wasn’t so we tried out luck at the Two Bit Saloon. When you look at the restaurant from the outside, it doesn’t look opened at all because it was pitch dark so the only way to find out was to park and check…. and guess what, they were opened!
It was a nice small town breakfast restaurant where you take the time to slow down and notice the little things around you. There were some cool stuff on the wall like pictures in picture frames, signs, random small town items, antlers, and other things.
There’s even pool tables, juke boxes, arcades and a bar in the restaurant.
Two Bit Saloon serves typical American dishes so I knew I’d be okay with just ordering good ‘ol bacon, eggs, and toast. The toast was golden brown because it was slathered in butter and toasted to the right about of crispness which made it that much more awesome. I didn’t mind since we had to eat a hearty breakfast for a full day ahead.
“G” ordered Chicken fried chicken, mashed potato, gravy, and eggs. I sampled the home fries and thought they were quite yummy since I kept digging in for more.
Just remember what when you’re in a small town, don’t expect your food to be prepared as quick as places here in LA county and OC county. There was only a older woman in the kitchen and a college aged guy taking out order so you can imagine how slow the service was in which we didn’t mind. Our group of friends, “G”, and I all love the slow paced life. It’s a nice change than from the typical SoCal rush.
I’m totally looking forward to returning to Gardiner as this is going to be the place we’ll be staying at!
Two Bit Saloon is at located Hiway 89, Gardiner, MT.
