Sweetner Test Battle: Truvia VS Pure Via
There’s a lot of sweeteners out there and consumers should be careful which ones to consume. Many of you probably heard of the artificial sweetener called aspartame and sucralose which are not your best options as there has been studies linked to cancer. Therefore, I was on a quest to look for a healthier alternative and that’s why I have created a post called Truvia VS Pure Via!
Everywhere you look, you can’t help but notice a lot of diet products, diet drinks, low-cal energy drinks, sugar-free candy, granola bars, gum, cereal, yogurt, ice cream, jello, prepackaged food, and so much more. Some food products are obvious that it contains artificial sugar called aspartame, sucralose, and even sugar alcohol, but have you ever stopped to check out the label and see the ingredient list on products that aren’t so obvious? Granola bars, yogurt, tea drinks, ice cream, and cookies are hidden with these sugar.
Did you know that back in 1965, a chemist happen to discover aspartame by mistake? He was creating a chemical which spilled onto his finger where he licked his finger to pick up a piece of paper and realized the substance had a very sweet taste. He realized it was aspartame and was probably not toxic. But guess what, it’s made of bacterial fecal matter. Yes I said it, bacterial fecal matter. There has been numerous studies on how it made lab rats fat and triggers you to eat more. I know, because I have went through it. And so after hearing all the negativity on these sugar substitutes I wanted to find a healthy alternative.
I stumbled upon Truvia and based on the label it sure seems like it was a natural zero calorie sugar, but recently there was a finding that a chemical in Truvia contains a chemical called erythritol which kills fruit flies and can be used as a repellent. If it can harm these tiny creatures imagine what it can do to our body. I looked at the ingredient list for Truvia and what do you know, that chemical was found. It was very disappointing but as consumers we need to pick and choose what goes in our bodies.
I did additional research to find an alternative Stevia brand without erythirol and I heard about Pure Via. I checked the ingredient list and they did not have it! Yay! I was super excited and it’s also non GMO. So in this battle of Truvia VS Pure Via, the winner is Pure Via!
