Anniversary Celebration At The Ranch Restaurant
“G” and I used the navigation to get to The Ranch and it was located at a strange location because the navi stated the restaurant is right on this Extron business building. To our surprise, the restaurant is actually attached to the Extron building, but anyways I was just happy we found the place to enjoy our anniversary.
When we first went in, I was a bit intimidated by how fancy the place was. The inside is very dim with beautiful wine glasses and wine bottles on display. The waiting area had leather seating and the staff greeted us with a low voice which made it seem like I had to whisper.
Our reservation was for 6 but we got there at 5, luckily the hostess took us to our seat. This was my first time where the hostess asked what color napkin we wanted, either white or black. We choose black since in case of a spill, you can’t tell on a black fabricf. It was time to start with the drinks I ordered the Margarita whereas “G” ordered Stella Artois Blonde Lager.
Let the appetizers begin!
“G” and I had to decide on our appetizer so we wanted to be adventurous and order the thinly sliced Kobe beef which was raw! He wanted me to order something I’d try and I said I would definitely give this a try. It’s like the meat eaters sushi. The American Raised Kobe Beef Carpaccio is made withWhite Alba Clamshell Mushrooms /Fava Beans / Wild Arugula / Black Truffle / Pecorino Romano.
The waitress also asked if we’d want to start off with The Ranch’s signature item which is the baked popvers and we agreed. I’ve never tried it before so I imagined it was similar to the Dutch baby pancake and expected it to be sweet. Never tried the Dutch baby either but I’ve seen pictures so I thought the popovers would be something like that.
The popovers were beautifully presented and was warm, hollow, and light. You have to make sure you rip open the popover and spread some butter ASAP because that way, it just melts all over. Then dab it with the strawberry preserves for a sweet touch.
Now To Start The Main Dish!
Everything on the menu looked delicious like the SKUNA BAY CRAFT RAISED SALMON,TENDER BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIB, CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE CHILEAN SEA BASS, but the MAPLEWOOD SMOKED FREE RANGE CHICKEN caught my attention. The dish comes with half a chicken, and is made with garden Panzanella, Castelvetrano olives, king trumpet mushrooms, and baby purple artichokes. What I enjoyed the most about the dish was the garden Panzanella which is a salad of bread that was so caramelized and I never had anything like it! What I also liked about the dish was the smokey maple wood sauce which really livens up the dish.
“G” ordered the Duroc Pork Chop and says it was quite delicious. The dish is made of spring succotash of Brentwood corn, fiddlehead ferns & chayote squash, and apricot BBQ sauce.
Under the Restaurant Homestyle Sides, the THE RANCH VEGETABLES was our choice because it’s simply roasted and was awesome.
Did We Have Room For Desserts?….Oh Yes We Did!
We were stuffed from all the delicious unique dishes but we still had room for dessert. I was thinking of getting MILKY WAY WITH A TWIST which is made of Valrhona Chocolate, malted nougat, and salted caramel ice cream and “G” wanted to get the NEW YORK STYLE CHEESECAKE but we came to term and went for the HOME MADE ICE CREAM TRIO. The most unique flavors our waiter listed was Butterscotch, Banana, Salt and Caramel, so that’s what we got. The butterscotch was my favorite because it had the perfect radio of sweetness and saltiness. Whereas the banana was too sweet and Salt and Caramel was too salty.
I would definitely come back here again and possibly hop next door to the saloon which is free to get in when you eat at the restaurant. I’ll have to make sure I get my cowgirl boots handy 😉
