We went for a Sunday morning hike at Blackstar Canyon located at Black Star Canyon Rd Orange, CA 92676 earlier than usual to beat the heat. The weather’s been quite hot lately so we wanted to hike before it got too hot. Our normal routine is usually to start our hikes early in the morning since that’s a good time to spot some wild life.
Unfortunately we didn’t see any deers or peacocks though we did spots some hummingbirds, lizards, and a strange looking bug that was a size of a thumb. I was expecting the weather to be hot but it was actually not that bad. There were beautiful fluffy clouds in the sky that covered the sun and it was a little breezy. We made it all the way to our typical stop where it breaks off into two trails where one leads to the waterfalls and the other towards the top of the hiking trail. After we and took a few breather, the flies started circling us like barn animals so we hit the trails to head back. The sun started peeking through on our back and it did warm up a bit and it reminded me that it wasn’t as bad as when we went to Palm Desert where we were under record heat of 125 degrees! I don’t think I’ve ever been in such heat in my life.
We were working up an appetite so we had breakfast on our minds. I was dreaming of pancakes and as our tradition, we went to John’s Place. As we were having breakfast, we were discussing about our Yellowstone trip booked for September. It’s so exciting knowing that we can go back to nature and think about what trails we want to hike and our hopes to see moose, bears, badgers, wolverines, and the pica. I’m so excited that ill begin my countdown to Yellowstone today!
Just 68 more days but the time will come so fast 🙂 I really want to reconnect with nature and refresh my mind from the city traffic and the city life.
