For quick, and tasty Chinese food, but don't want the typical to-go Chinese food, S.W. Seafood & B.B.Q. Restaurant which is located in Irvine had a wide variety of traditional Cantonese food. There are many options like dim sum, BBQ, lunch, dinner, and banquets. The lunch special plate sizes are quite generous and is perfect to bring a group of people and share the different plates. Lines grow quickly so be sure to get here before the big crowd arrives. [caption id="attachment_16848" align="alignnone" width="600"] Egg drop soup[/caption] Before you begin choosing what you want to order, warm up with this Egg Drop Soup complimentary of the restaurant. The consistency of the soup is thick and the flavor will warm you up in a good way even during the hot fall heat here in Southern California. [caption id="attachment_16849" align="alignnone" width="600"] Spicy Eggplant in garlic sauce[/caption] The presentation of the Spicy Egg Plant makes it hard to tell what it really is. It looks like grilled tofu with sauce over it, but it's delicious egg plant soaked up with the garlic sauce and was not spicy at all. Perhaps it's because I can handle spicy food pretty well. [caption id="attachment_16850" align="alignnone" width="600"] Fish Fillet with Ginger & Scallion[/caption] This Fish Fillet plate is topped with lots and lots of scallion. And more scallion...The kind of fish in this dish is probably tilapia because it light in color and extra soft. Unfortunately the taste of ginger was no where to be found. There's not enough fish and lots of scallions but in the end I was the one that ended up eating the scallions because I actually did enjoy it with my rice. [caption id="attachment_16852" align="alignnone" width="600"] Clam with Black Bean Sauce[/caption] The clams is very clammy. Is that even a word? When I say clammy I mean that it really taste like the ocean water which was too strong for my taste and which is why I'm not a big fan of oysters. The black sesame beans was a nice touch to the plate, really salty, and strong soybean taste. [caption id="attachment_16851" align="alignnone" width="600"] Calamari[/caption] This Calamari With Peppers dish was one of my favorite. It was crispy and fried to perfection. I didn't find any squid that was soggy or chewy. Peppers added a nice kick to it but it wasn't too hot and the sliced cabbage was a nice little salad hidden under the warm fried calamari. Restaurant Menu[/caption] [caption id="attachment_16854" align="alignnone" width="600"] Fortune Cookie[/caption] The restaurant was getting really busy when we almost finished the plates, one of the waiters quickly delivered our bill with fortune cookies! He was quick since he had to clear up the other tables for people waiting to be seated. [caption id="attachment_16853" align="alignnone" width="600"] Fortune Cookie fortunes[/caption] Here was our fortunes! Mine said "You will be fortunate in everything you put your hands on." I put my hands on this cookie and it disappeared! Just like magic. Would I come back? Yes I would because I want to try out their dim sum menu since it looks like there are a lot of yummy options.
