[caption id="attachment_19502" align="alignnone" width="600"] Ramen Yamadaya OC[/caption] Ramen Yamadaya OC is located in a pretty busy shopping center in Costa Mesa. There's even other locations all throughout Cali. Southern California has been so hot lately, but we all decided to check this place out. There was a few people waiting ahead of us so it took a while to be seated but it was worth the wait.

As we waited, we checked out the menu. I was debating on ordering ramen or the bento box. Of course the popular choice would be the ramen.
I ordered the KARA-AGE CHICKEN and rice "bento" plate which comes with fried chicken, rice, and a cabbage salad. I really liked the "cole slaw" which was just cabbage and this awesome Japanese salad dressing. The fried chicken was good but it was lacking flavor. I sprinkled some spice to it which made it a bit better.

Fiance ordered the TONKOTSU SPICY. I was surprised at the amount of spice in the soup. Just look at that dollop of spicy paste and oil. I noticed the noddle is quite similar to Shin-Sen-Gumi as it's straight. But he did prefer Shin-Sen-Gumi noodle.

He also ordered a side of the CHASHU PORK. Yum, these chashu pork just melts in your mouth and there was enough to share with everyone.

The fiance and I tried the watermelon drink which was super refreshing. It was their new drink and I just had to have it. Unfortunately it costs extra for re-fills but I think one is enough since it's somewhat sweet.
There are decor all around the restaurant of old vintage Japanese posters.
I would like to try this place out when it's not too hot outside and feel in the mood for ramen. Next time I'll be sure to try out these Yamadaya buns as well!
Ramen Yamadaya is located at Stater Bros., 1175 Baker St, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
