When you’re in Solvang CA, be sure to try out Paula’s Pancake House for some delicious Danish breakfast. I’ve been wanting to try this place since many years ago and I was finally able to try it. The holdup was the long times and long wait list. We were finally lucky to get a seat inside! My friends and I decided to check out a popular bakery next door, and next thing you know we were already called in. I’ll talk more about the the bakery in a later post.

The restaurant is warm and cozy and makes you feel like you’re getting a home cooked meal somewhere in Europe. Service was quick and the staff were very friendly.
I got the menu and I knew exactly what I wanted, the Paula’s Special Danish Pancake. Here is my giant plate of two Danish pancakes that had to be slightly folded since it wouldn’t fit into my place. The blueberries and whipped cream was a perfect combination to my pancakes. The cakes are slightly sweet and the blueberries were warm which brought out their natural sweetness. It’s close to a crepes but you don’t taste the butter at all. It’s just a fluffy breakfast dessert that’s not overly sweet. Just my type of sweetness.
“G” ordered the Solvang Danish Style Sausage (medisterpølse), scrambled egg, and hash brown. For $9.25, you get a generous portion of scrambled eggs and hash brown. I’m not a fan of sausages, but I did enjoy this one.
Here is the group picture of our breakfast orders on the round table. I was able to sneak in a picture before we all dug in our awesome eats. The seats were tight but we all got along ?
So go check out Paula’s Pancake House because it’s lækker which means delicious in Danish. 🙂
