Orchid Restaurant is located at 3033 Bristol St Costa Mesa, CA 92626.

If you’ve never tried Persian/ Iranian food, I’d suggest going here for the buffet where you can try a little bit of everything. They have a lot of meats to choose from like Beef and chicken koobideh, lamb neck, Chicken Shish Kabob, Chicken Berg Kabob, Albaloo Polo with Chicken, Beef Soltani Kabob, and so much more!

There is also something for seafood lovers like their Jumbo Shrimp Kabob, Fried Trout, and Mahi Kabob.

For something healthy, choose from their Hummus, tabouli, pasta, Spicy red cabbage slaw and tabouleh, salad, rice, Must O’Khiyar, Orchid Salad, Shirazi Salad made of diced tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, parsley and herbs, with olive oil and lemon juice dressing, and Tabouli which is a familiar a Mediterranean salad made of fresh chopped parsley, diced tomato, onions, cracked wheat and flavored with a blend of fresh herbs.

For something hearty and warm, there’s Chicken Curry, Lamb stew, Gheymeh Bademjan stew which is made of parsley, green onions, red kidney beans, cooked with veal shank, served with Basmati rice, Khoresht-e Karafs, Fesenjan, and Gheymeh Bademjan.

And after all the great selection of food, try their desserts like Bamieh which is a traditional delicacy made with flour, honey and rose water, rice pudding, jello, Baghlava which is a traditional delicacy made with flour, honey and rose water, pistachios and almonds, and if you’re a fan of ice cream, Bastani is a house specialty ice cream with rose water, pistachios and saffron.

The white rice pudding with dash of cinnamon was better than the yellow rice pudding because it had a much rich rice flavor and was sweeter. I also tried the Bamieh and thought it was similar to the Korean sweet red beans. It had the same texture but was not as sweet which is why I liked it so much.

I’d love to return to Orchid Restaurant for the lunch buffet again to see what other items they have available that day and also during their dinner time to try their entrees. Do you know of any other Persian/ Iranian restaurants?
