Misasa Beef Curry
Misasa is a Japanese restaurant located inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace where the food courts are at. This small place serves curry, udon, rice bowls, bento boxes, and  even soba noodles. So if you’re craving Japanese food and want it quick, this is the place to go. It’s a popular place as many people line up during dinner time and if it’s your first time, not to fear because the Japanese food models are here! And I don’t mean fashion models. What I love about Japanese restaurants is that there’s always a display of the food models of the menu so you have an idea what the serving size looks like and what’s included in the dish. There’s always a Dinner Special where you get Katshu Curry, Beef Curry, or Hamburger Curry with a side of rice and salad which is under $10.

I always order the Beef Curry because it’s like Japanese Beef Stew and makes you feel warm and cozy even in the hot weather. The beef is chunky, juicy and tender and just melts in the curry sauce. The salad is a plain but the tangy dressing which is probably made up of garlic, vinegar, and soy sauce makes it all better. I’ll have to look for the recipe…because it’s just so dang tasty!  “G” always get the Katsu Chicken Curry which is like a Japanese version of the fried chicken. It is made of boneless chicken breast and breaded with panko bread crumbs and then deep-fried. The katsu chicken is then topped on a bed of rice with yummy curry sauce over it.
After chowing down our food, we decided to get some dessert. We usually like to go into the Mitsuwa Market to get some mochi, check out the Japanese candy, and  baked goods BUT we went to a new Japanese ice cream shop called Matcha Love. I  suggest you head over to Matcha Love if there’s one in your Mitsuwa Market location, or get the Miyakawa Brand Mochi Ice Cream. There’s even a bakery called Hamada Ya which has scrumptious Cream Pastry and soft cakes. Walk off the food and treat by checking out the book store or video shop where you can find all your Japanese animation favorites.

Misasa is cash only and is located Mitsuwa Food Court 14230 Culver Dr Irvine, CA 92604.
