Mezza Mediterranean Grill is located on 11435 South Street, Cerritos, CA 90703 at the Cerritos Promenade. I just Yelped this place and was surprised to see that it was located at the Cerritos Promenade which is where my bf and I usually go for dinner. I’m guessing this place is new because, as the Mediterranean food lover that I am, I would’ve known about this place right away!

It looks like a fancy place because there’s a podium to sign-in and some outside seating with those fancy heaters. When you go in, you will be instantly greeted by the staff who are extra friendly. We sat at one corner of the restaurants where the seating was a corner couch that was quite comfortable to sit on. Music isn’t played so loudly here so it’s definitely a good place for a nice relaxing date. What’s cool about the interior is that you can see right into the kitchen through a window that’s shaped as a Mid-Eastern architecture.

There was a 1/2 off any wine deal that night, but unfortunately it was too much to handle one full bottle of wine and we missed happy hour which is from 3-5 I believe. There’s a lot of food items to choose from, but luckily there are pictures on the menu, just the way I like it!

We started off our meal with crispy thin pita chips with a side of sesame dip. According to my taste buds, it seems like it was made of olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette topped with sesame seeds. Next time we’ll know to mix it well since the oil separates from the vinaigrette.

We decided to order appetizers and the waiter suggested the Battaa Harra. It is made of cubes of fresh fried potatoes sautéed with crushed garlic, lemon juice, and cilantro for $6.50. It was so good and not like anything I’ve ever tasted before. Without even trying, I could just smell the garlic. The potato was greasy and sour from the lemon juice which woke up my taste buds. This is a must try if you’re looking for something different to try.

Mezza Mediterranean Grill soup & 1/2 Salad

The chicken soup looked amazing, but after a few taste, it was way too salty. But I had no complaints about the salad. The waiter even brought over some warm pita bread which is much more thin then other pita breads I’ve tried. I actually like it thin so you don’t get too stuffed.

My bf ordered the beef plate with a side of salad & hummus. Beef Shwarma comes with slices of tender marinaded top sirloin, freshly cut from an upright spit, accompanied by our tahini sauce. Served on a bed of rice with your choice of regular hummus, spicy hummus or baba ganouj and your choice of fatoush or tabouleh salad for $13.50.

The staff kept asking us how we liked our food and of course we said it was simply amazing and delicious. Then he said he’d bring us some dessert on the house! I was so happy since I was craving something sweet. Baklava Dessert is made with filo dough with crushed cashews and butter dipped in special house syrup. The baklava was super flaky, crispy, and crunchy and went really well with the cold cream and syrup. I liked how it wasn’t as sweet as other baklava that I’ve tried and the coldness coming from the cream made it refreshing.

I would give this restaurant a 4 1/2 stars out of 5 only because of the salty chicken noodle soup. Other then that, everything else was great and is a great place for a romantic dinner.
