[caption id="attachment_18341" align="alignnone" width="600"]Mastro's Steakhouse Menu Mastro's Steakhouse Menu[/caption] For a true fine dining experience, make reservations for Mastro's Steakhouse. There are locations in Socal such as Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, and Costa Mesa which was the location we made reservations for. Oh and I'll share a funny experience with you guys about my reservation through Yelp, but after all the foodie goodness! "G" and I decided to go to Mastro's for an after Valentine's Day celebration. Reservations were wide open and we figured it would be the best time to go. [caption id="attachment_18343" align="alignnone" width="600"]Bread Basket Mastro's Steakhouse Bread Basket[/caption] The ambiance is very classy, fancy with wine bottles line the walls and is dimly lighted for a romantic feel. I wish I could have taken some pictures of the walls lined with wine bottles. but it ended up being a little too crowded. [caption id="attachment_18342" align="alignnone" width="600"]Mastro's pretzel bread,Parmesan-crusted garlic, sourdough, and dinner roll Mastro's Steakhouse pretzel bread,Parmesan-crusted garlic, sourdough, dinner roll, and chilled butter[/caption] A variety of bread in a basket is on the house with breads including Pretzel bread,Parmesan-crusted garlic, sourdough, dinner roll, with chilled butter. Two of my favorite out of the basket was the Pretzel bread and Parmesan-crusted garlic. Be sure to spread some butter on your warm pretzel bread before it cools down! [caption id="attachment_18347" align="alignnone" width="600"]Sauted Asparagus Mastro's Steakhouse sautéed Asparagus[/caption] For my side order, I ordered the Asparagus where you can get it steamed or sautéed. I wanted them sautéed and boy was it awesome. I love how it wasn't too soft in the center, it was still a bit crunchy in the middle, and they added a lot of peppers where you can actually taste it. [caption id="attachment_18346" align="alignnone" width="600"]Roasted Brussels Sprouts Mastro's Steakhouse Roasted Brussels Sprouts[/caption] "G" ordered the Roasted Brussels Sprouts which were amazing. I just love it when it's really brown and caramelized. As we got our main course, the servers asked us if we would like the asparagus and the Brussels Sprouts on our plates. I said "Of course", of course...but I loved how they place a little bit of Brussels Sprouts and the asparagus on each of our plates so we can both try. [caption id="attachment_18348" align="alignnone" width="600"]Scottish Salmon Fillet Mastro's Steakhouse Scottish Salmon Fillet[/caption] I know it's a steakhouse, but I couldn't resist the Scottish Salmon Fillet. I really wanted to try the Chilean Sea Bass, but for some reason, the one prepared in Costa Mesa didn't get good reviews, but the one in Newport did. The Scottish Salmon Fillet tastes good on its own and adding a little bit of the soybean paste (served in a tiny cup) makes it interesting, but in a good way. . I didn't like it at first but as your taste buds get used to it, it was a nice addition to each bite. [caption id="attachment_18349" align="alignnone" width="600"]Lemon halves Mastro's Steakhouse Lemon halves[/caption] The lemon halves were served in a coffee filter like cover so when you squeeze the lemon, the pulp and the seed won’t get onto your plate. Make sure you drizzle some lemon juice on the salmon and the Brussels Sprouts! It makes it THAT much better. [caption id="attachment_18345" align="alignnone" width="600"]Bone-In Rib Eye - 22oz Mastro's Steakhouse Bone-In Rib Eye - 22oz[/caption] Tada, this is "G"'s Bone-In Rib Eye - 22oz! My gosh, 22oz sounds like a lot but it actually looked like a pretty good portion. He loved it of course. My mouth was drooling looking at it. [caption id="attachment_18351" align="alignnone" width="600"]Butter Cake Mastro's Steakhouse Butter Cake[/caption] OKAY, time for the main highlight! You guys ready!? The dessert that'll knock your socks off is the is their famous  warm Mastro's Steakhouse Butter Cake which is topped scoop of vanilla ice cream and served with a bowl of extra creamy whipped cream. The cake is so dense yet soft, rich, and oh so amazing. It was seriously heaven with each bite. Be sure to cut a slice, top it with the vanilla ice cream, and get a big spoonful of extra thick whipped cream. The inside of the cake is warm so the ice cream just melts over the cake, making it so much more amazing because the cake soaks up it up. There's a slight salty flavor and you can taste the caramelized sugar and butter in the cake. I just can go on and on about this cake so you have to experience it yourself.

I would definitely go here again, but for a special occasion. Next time I want to try the Lobster mashed potato which is what everyone raves about. Another item I'll have to try is the Mac n cheese.

FUNNY YELP EXPERIENCE: If you guys are still reading, here's my funny Yelp reservation experience. So...you may know my Yelp name is Food Wanderer, and so I had no idea that when I would make reservations here that they would really think that was my name. I even added a note saying my real name so when "G" and I arrived on time, the hostess had troubles finding me. I said it was under my name for 2 at 5:30pm and she had the most confused look on her face. Then another hostess was helping her look up any reservations for 2 at 5:30. Then she realized that it was me, saying "When I saw the system and saw the name, I was like is someone's name really Food Wanderer? Hahaha." We all chuckled and went to our seats. Another funny thing was that the waiter was asking how I made my usename Food Wanderer and I said it was for my blog. When it was time for dessert and we already knew what he wanted, the waiter said "The Foodwanderer needs to try the Butter Cake haha!" We laughed the night away...
