Hi friends, it’s time for another Munchie’s Monday. Today’s munchie is this Nongshim Onion Flavored Rings, 1.41 Ounce (Pack of 12) which is from a Korean company called Nongshim. Growing up, Funions were a big hit but after learning how it’s made with addictive chemical such as MSG, no longer did I want it. While checking out HMart Korean Grocery store, I bought some of the Nongshim Onion Flavored Rings. When I checked the ingredients in the back, neither MSG or Disodium guanylate was listed but when I checked on Amazon.com, it stated that it’s one of the ingredients…so disappointed. Oh well, everything in moderation I suppose. The ingredients include Wheat Flour, Wheat Starch, Palm Oil, Potato Powder, Onion Powder, Sugar, Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Cochineal. What’s the difference between the Korean Onion Ring Chips and Funyuns? Funyuns are made of cornmeal while the Korean Onion Ring Chip’s made of Wheat flour. Also, the Nongshim Onion rings are smooth and it almost melts when it goes into your mouth whereas the Funyuns are loaded with salt and the texture is more rough.

It’s also pretty low in calories. Unlike the Funyuns counterpart, it’s not loaded with fats, sodium, and calories.  So next time you’re reaching for something to munch on, why not this Korean Onion Ring Chips?
