Koharu Restaurant is located at 31840 Pacific Hwy S Federal Way, WA 98003.
I thought it was cool how it’s located on PCH: Pacific Coast Highway! YES, that PCH that you drive on to get to Malibu or the beaches like Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, New Port Beach, and a whole lot of place! It’s funny knowing that PCH connects all the way to Washington which I found awesome. But anyways, if you happen to be around Federal Way area in Seattle WA and want to try out sushi, get to Koharu Restaurant.
When we got into the restaurant, I instantly noticed how the inside was quite large, had very traditional elements, and the interior was very impressive. There were traditional Japanese art on fabric scrolls and the waitresses were dressed in beautiful kimonos.
Our waitress first gave us a warm wet towel (Oshibori) to wash our hands with which is why I love sushi places that offers that. It keeps my hands warm and clean as well. This was my 2nd time getting the Oshibori. The first time was at Kashiwa.
Koharu Restaurant offers many different kinds of sushi like yellowtail, tuna, eel, salmon, uni, and shrimp. They also have dinner specials that comes with a side of miso soup, salad, and you can choose to order the Chef’s assorted sashimi place.
If you don’t like any raw seafood or seafood in genaral, there’s an option like beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, gyozas, chicken katsu, soba noodles, sukiyaki, and tempura.
Miso soup is always perfect no matter how cold or how hot it is.
The mini salad was just your typical iceberg lettuce with thousand island dressing.I was hoping to get the actual Japanese salad dressing which is a little like a vinaigrette.
My assorted sashimi plate had too much rice in it and the fish was kinda chewy. I had better sushi here in California, but sushi is sushi so I didn’t complain. The sashimi plate presentation was beautiful but it was too day it didn’t taste as good as it looked.
Overall, my experience here was still good, not great but I still enjoyed it.
