Kabuki Restaurant…
recently came out with their vegetarian menu in which my bf and I thought was brilliant since we love veggies! He’s not a seafood eater so it was perfect that they offered vegetable dishes. When we’re here, he’ll order the beef vegetable udon and snack on edamame, but now with the new line of vegetable dishes there’s a lot more he can choose from. We enjoyed the vegetable “Sushi Rolls” in which it was rolled with cucumber, filled with seasoned tofu and was a cool artistic touch by placing a tomato without the glossy skin placed on top of the roll to make it look like sashimi! Even bell peppers were used to give the illusion of sashimi.
It never occurred to me that seafood restaurants should have a vegetarian menu, but now that I think of it people may be picky when it comes to seafood. Either they can’t have seafood because of their diet or simply don’t care for it. When it comes to meat or seafood, vegetarian dishes should always be an option since no one can complain about veggies! Or can they…
I wanted to order from their vegetarian selection so I chose the Tofu Steak $7.95. The tofu “steaks” were really firm so it soaked up the teriyaki sauce and had to use a fork and knife to cut it. The plate comes with two pretty large sized rounded pan fried tofu steaks made with yuzu teriyaki sauce, served with spring mix, shitake mushrooms, asparagus, and brown rice which were two cute flat rounded pucks. The plate may look a bit small, but trust me, you’ll get full from it and I highly recommend this dish.
Also from the Vegetarian Menu, there’s the Tofu Katsu $7.95 which is deep fried Panko breaded tofu, served with tomato, cucumber, salad, and brown rice, salads like the Mizuna Fruit Salad, Sushi & Roll like the Tofu Roll made from Tempura Tofu mixed with Apple Slices, rolled with rice and seaweed, served with kale mustard dressing, Veggie Rainbow Roll (one we ordered) and the Veggie Sushi Combination $8.95 which is a sampler of veggie sushi variety including roasted peppers, tomato, asparagus and avocado.
The drink menu tempted me so I just had to order the Cosmopolitan. It’s pretty strong so I guess they weren’t being cheap on the alcohol. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second one, but of course, after I ordered I noticed they have the Saketini in Pomegranate, Lychee, and in Creamy Peach flavor. I’ll definitely have to try those the next time I go.
Cha Shu Ramen may not be vegetarian, but I just had to stick it in there since it’s a tasty ramen dish if you’re not looking for anything that’s vegetarian and want something warm and hearty. It’s not quite as good as Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen but it’s still tasty non the less.
Our experience at Kabuki Restaurant was quite an adventure and we really enjoyed the new vegetarian menu. We’d love to go back to try their other Vegetarian dishes and now I can convince “G” to go to this place a little more 🙂
