Travels: Hellroaring Trail In Yellowstone

Hi friends! On the previous posts I’ve mentioned that I’ll be posting about my Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Zion National Park trip but I’ve been totally distracted from the product reviews and keeping up with the other daily posts so I wanted to pick up from where I left off. I left off on the trip to Yellowstone and hiked the Hell Roaring Trails for the first time. It was totally unexpected because you don’t see 100% of what you’ll end up seeing on the trail.

We got to the trail head and noticed a lot of photographers waiting in front of a mountain of stones. Why you ask? Well they were looking for a  rare creature called the picas (I call it the pikas like from Pokemon) We joined the others to see if we could spot any but no luck. Most likely because there were just so much people. BUT we came over the next day and spotted it so here’s the pic below =)

Isn’t the pica just oh so cute and cuddly? The picas are known to be in very rocky mountain side.

Some parts of the trails were rocky so make sure you have good hiking shoes.

It was time to move on so we started the trail and I picked up a hiking stick from the trail sign. People usually leave it there for others to use. The trail started simple because it was a down hill trail. Deer was spotted at the beginning of the trail and seemed very relaxed. While on the trail it was nice to see all the wildflowers blooming from purple ones, pink ones, blue ones, and yellow ones. After a nice hike down we stepped to the side of the trail and took the time to look around the hills across the river. “G” suddenly points over and spots a mountain goat! It’s rare to see those guys. Few minutes later the goat was out of sight so we moved on.

Along the way we met two hikers and then more wild flowers. It seems as though the yellow ones kept getting bigger and bigger as we went deeper into the trail.

Check out the wildflowers below!

Suddenly it was just an open field of just dried wild flowers and grass but before we saw all that we had to cross over this Yellowstone Bridge. It was quite scary but you can imagine how tough it is since a herd of bison will walk by.

Over the distance we could spot a pond and once we made it we can hear the Hell Roaring River. Now we understand how it got the name.

Hellroaring Trail was quite a beautiful hike and was perfect to go in the springtime. If you plan to visit Yellowstone I suggest springtime because you will see lots of animal activities, wildflowers, and the beautiful scenery.
