Happy Fry Day!

July 13th marks the National French Fry Day 2013! Bet you didn’t know there was such a thing because I didn’t. I think its fun to have those kind of food days because it give you reasons to eat that certain food and not feel bad about it. Well unless you eat a lot of it.

So which type of french fries do you like?

I typically get the regular french fries, but if I see that there are sweet potato fries then I would order that. I don’t like my sweet potato fries with sugar because it’s naturally sweet and I prefer some salt on it to give it a good sweet and salty balance. I’m also a fan of curly fries and criss cross cut fries. Onion rings are good but I have to be in the mood for it.

Is there a specific place you like to get your fries from?

No one can deny that McDonald’s fries are quite delicious but then I feel like I shouldn’t be eating after watching the fast food documentary called “Super Size Me”. The McDonald fries were sealed up for many months and there was no mold growth after so long. Their fries are obviously so processed that it doesn’t even mold so I can imagine how difficult it is for the digestive system to break it down.

I like to indulge In N Out’s french fries because its made with vegetable oil and it’s perfectly crispy and salty. The “Animal Style” french fry is my favorite but I like to have that every great once in a while. Few weeks ago, I went to Chick Fil A and had their criss cross french fries and forgot how good they were. They were big enough to dip into the ranch dressing and pick up a lot of it.

Which condiments do you prefer?

I like ketchup but it can’t have high fructose corn syrup. Ranch is also one my favorites, but it can’t contain MSG (monosodium glutamate). Yes, yes I’m picky and we should be if we want to be health conscious. Mixing ketchup and ranch is a good combination because you get two in one! Adding pepper to ketchup is amazing as well. My bf told me how he likes his ketchup and after i tried it, I always have to have my ketchup like that when there’s pepper around. Thousand island dressing is quite good too after getting the idea from In N Out. I’m not a big fan of BBQ but it sure tastes good with curly fries.
