After a wonderful 3 hour hike at Crystal Cove State Park, “G”, “T”, and I really worked up an appetite. The strenuous hike probably burned off a 1000 calories (jk, usually the MyTrack App overestimates the amount of calories burned…) but anyways it was time to get some grub!
Corona Del Mar is a beach town and is full of trendy places for food, clothing, and art galleries. But if you’re looking for something quick and affordable get to Gallos Deli now! The place doesn’t look like much and doesn’t stand out compared to the other restaurants near by, but “G” has been here before and suggested me try this place out. It’s just a small Deli where you just order your food and get out quick because not many people can fit in the area in one time. You order your sandwich, pick your drink from the fridge, and pay the cashier.
Choose from either a full sub or half a sub, hot or regular. I was planning to get a half but I was much too hungry. “G” ordered the Hot Pastrami Sandwich whereas I got the BLT! You all know how much I love BLT…
It was quite intimidating trying to choose my sandwich because one of the worker somewhat rolled his eyes because I couldn’t make up my mind. But I don’t blame him since there was a huge line behind us. Also I thought the cashier looked miserable and didn’t even bother looking at “G” or myself when we tried to pay. Another funny thing I noticed was that there’s not a lot of women here ordering. Just males mostly. Guess it’s a manly sub place!
Time to grub outside!
There’s only outdoor seating outside but you do get shade from the over sized umbrella.
The Zesty Jalapenos Chips was the perfect chip to pair with the sandwich. It had a spicy kick to it and Kettle cooked chips are the best because of the extra crunch. The All Natural Green Tea Pomegranate flavor was extra refreshing. It’s like the Arizona drink except it doesn’t have High Fructose Corn Syrup and it’s organic, woo hoo!
I really suggest the BLT because the bacon were awesome. It’s really thin and extra crispy. That was probably the crispiest 🙂 bacon I’ve ever had. The bread wasn’t anything special but it was good non-the-less.
While eating I took to time to check out the little sub shack. There’s a lot of stickers on the window and the roof edge.
I would definitely come here against after a good long hike. Just looking at the pictures are making my mouth water…
Gallos Deli is located at 3900 E Coast Hwy, Corona Del Mar.
