When I see food being wasted by people, I think about the ones who can be fed with that. Hungry people from around the world would be happy and see that as luxury to get their hands on food. With more efficient ways to grow food, people are still hungry. We produce 27% more food today compared to 50 years ago. People take food for granted when people from around the world can’t even get their hands on it.
Many children go to bed hungry and eventually die from malnutrition. Even with the population increasing, we still produce enough food to feed everyone, yet the people of Africa are starving. If we really cared about starving children and people, we need to practice what we preach. Try to take your leftovers from the restaurant home as they can be warmed up for next day’s dinner. - 8% wasted in production
- 4% food industry loses that much
- 25% of foods of households are wasted
- 15% from restaurants
- 6% from markets
