Wednesday of last week, my friends wanted to go grab dim sum. It’s been a pretty long time since I’ve had any. The last time was probably last year? Hmm that seems way too long ago… I was just excited to try a new dim sum place. The typical dim sum get together is at Capital Seafood but this time was at the China Garden.

Wednesday was a perfect day to come here since there wasn’t that much of a crown. My friend “B” told me that it’s typically busy here for dinner or for any special occasion. I know dim sum is a big deal for mothers day especially in Alhambra CA which is surrounded my many yummy Asian restaurants.

We were all ready to grub! When you come here hungry everything looks good. My friend asked the three of us what we wanted but I waited for them to choose since I wouldn’t really know what to get. I’m only familiar with Haw Gow, Siu Mai dumpling, and the sesame ball so I wanted to see what other new dim sum items I’d get to try.

I had no idea what it was but it sure looks good. The dim sum lady also gave us two different kind of dipping sauce. One looked like soy sauce you get at a Japanese restaurant for the tempura and the other was a thick sweet dark sauce. The cruller was deliciously fried and tasted good on its own but I didn't really care for the rice wrapping. I'd rather have an order of just the cruller since it tasted like donuts. "B" insisted that I try this one and after many refusals she asked for a scissor to cut it into fours so we could all grab a piece. I tried it and was surprised at how tasty it was compared to the other ones I've tried. [caption id="attachment_15490" align="alignnone" width="600"]Har Gow Har Gow[/caption] The Haw gow is already one of my favorites. The shrimp is juicy and flavorful. I would say I really like anything with shrimp in it! Oh and the rice porriage is really yummy. China Garden Dim Sum is located at 14825 Jeffrey Rd, Irvine, CA 92618.
