Move over Baskin Robins and Cold Stone, a popular ice cream joint is here that’s taking everyone by storm. Cauldron Ice Cream is tucked in a shopping center in Santa Ana that can be easily missed, but don’t miss out on their always changing ice cream flavors. “G” and I were finally able to try this place out last month when we were still having those summer weather in November.
This ice cream joint is right next to a popular Cajun/Creole restaurant, Ritters Steam Kettle Cooking. At first glance, we thought Cauldron was super packed, but it was actually people waiting to be seated at Ritters.
When I first walked it I noticed the ice cream maker similar to the one I saw at Creamistry. Their ice cream are all homemade and all natural. I was really looking forward to trying the Red Velvet and Mother’s Circus Animal Cookie ice cream, but I didn’t see it on the menu. It’s pretty cool that they rotate and create new flavors every month so it’s always a new adventure every visit!
CAULDRON takes the spotlight, not only for the unique and flavorful ice cream, but also for their puffy waffle cone called the Puffle. Husband’s friend suggested we try their waffle, but we thought he meant the regular waffle cone shown below. Next time, we’ll have to try the Puffle for sure.
I love coffee, especially Vietnamese Coffee so I just had to get the Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream. I even got a cute little chocolate rolled wafer on top! The texture of the ice cream was super creamy, similar to Gelato, BUT even better. The coffee flavor was bold and strong, just the way I like my coffee. Even for a size small my ice cream cone was heavy and the serving was pretty big. A size small plus the waffle cone will cost you $5.50.
The husband ordered the medium Milk and Cereal on a waffle cone after trying the one from Atticus Creamery & Pies. Medium is basically two large scoops mixed in with a lot of Frosted Flakes. I took a few bites and even though we both agreed the ice cream was amazing, there was more of the cereal flavor from the one at Atticus. Loved it non-the-less!
I definitely want to try the Puffle with the COOKIE BUTTER (SPECULOOS), DOUBLE SHOT CHOCOLATE, and the EARL GREY LAVENDER next time 🙂
