Carthay Circle Restaurant

Carthay Circle Restaurant is located at Disney California Adventures and looks like an old movie theater, but don’t be fooled until you check it out inside. Just from the looks of it I wouldn’t be able to tell it was a restaurant! The front of the restaurant is full of music and entertainment from the Disney staff and there’s also the trolley making it’s way through with singing and picking up park goers.

“G” and I were so lucky to come to Disney California Adventures since our friend was able to get us in for free and wanted us to try out Carthay Circle so she made reservations for lunch. Oh I just couldn’t wait! The restaurant is quite dim but it really gives the feeling of how it would’ve been when Disney himself was around. As we waited for be seated, it was awesome to check out the display of old pictures on the walls with Disney and other famous people I couldn’t name.

The staff that was guiding us to the 2nd floor to the dining area was very knowledgeable about the history of Carthay Circle. This place is supposedly a replica of the original one which was burned down way back when.

Be sure to keep a lookout when you get to the second floor because you’ll see the awesome picture of Disney and Shirley Temple. It’s a hard to miss picture.

Fancy dining area
Fancy dining area

The dining area is dim as well and quite fancy. It was interesting to see kids in the dining area because a fancy and dim place like this seems like a place for adult. I would think kids would rather enjoy a brighter and more colorful surrounding. But the kid next to us were provided with crayons and coloring book so they didn’t mind at all. Plus this place offer kids menu.

The Fire Cracker Duck Wings just melts in your mouth and falls right off the bones. Signature Baked Biscuit is filled with melted cheese and cut it in half to dip into the apricot sauce. There’s a nice balance of salt from the cheese and sweet from the sauce.

Ceviche of “Blue Cobia” which is made with Avocado, Tomatillo-Cilantro Essence, and Crisp Plantain Chips $16.00. This dish may look small but is quite filling. They’re generous with the avocado but I did wish there were more shrimp and plaintain chips. I didn’t expect the chips to be soft so perhaps that’s one thing that was a downer.

The Ultimate Beef Sandwich is made with Slowly Braised Beef Short Rib served Open-faced with Sautéed Portobello Mushrooms, Parmesan Cheese, and Arugula
$24.00. Let me tell you why it’s called the ULTIMATE, it’s because it is the best sandwich I’ve ever tasted! I was skeptical believing that the bread would be soggy from the sauce, but it just soaked up all the deliciousness! The beef is so savory and just melts in your mouth.

But overall the food here is AMAZING. All the food I tried is a MUST!!

So to work off all that food we decided to walk a little bit in Disney Cali and then hitch a ride on the Cars Land Ride and also soaring Over Cali.
