There are many yummy food places around the Orange County such as Asian, Mexican, American, and Mediterranean. Then there’s Blakes Place BBQ. This joint serves up a delicious BBQ plate and has been around since 1996 serving over one million guests already! When you want a good BBQ plate, drop by this place since it won’t disappoint, plus it was voted Best BBQ places in OC.
“G” and I went to Blake’s Place Anaheim which is in tucked away and is hidden between E. Miraloma Ave. and N Red Gun St in an industrious location. It’s hard to miss especially at night so make sure you keep a lookout!
When you walk in, you can immediately tell it’s a very casual environment. Perfect for BBQ. Why have an overly fancy dining experience when BBQ can get messy right? I enjoyed all the pictures and frames throughout the restaurant. The awards for being the Top Rated BBQ in the OC, pictures of eating competition, articles, and the teams they sponsored.
There was a lot to choose from the menu but not to the point where it was overwhelming. If you’re planning to eat with a big party, the “Complete Meals For Take-Out” which feeds 4-5 people. Then there’s the “Meats From The Smoker” which is 1/2 minimum, so if you’re planning a big get together or have an enormous appetite, then check out the catering menu.
If you’re eating for one, choose from the “Blake’s Specialties” or “Smoked Meat & Sandwiches” which are all priced around $8.99 to $9.99 for scrumptious items like Pulled Pork Pile, Sandwich Sampler, Pulled BBQ Chicken Pile, and Beef Brisket Sandwich. Since I already ate a slice of pizza from Bottle Logic, I wasn’t too hungry so “G” and I shared the Pulled Pork Pile since the picture of the plate was huge! The staff was nice enough to cut the sandwich in half as well.
The pork just melts in your mouth and has the smokey BBQ flavor you would imagine getting only from the smoker. There was just the right amount of coleslaw and we even got some garlic bread which I forgot to take a picture of! But that was a good combination with the Pulled Pork Pile Sandwich. The only thing I would mention was that the pickles were too salty!
