Tasty Tuesday: BCD Tofu House

BCD Tofu house is located at many locations but we decided to go to the one in Cerritos. This location is quite popular compared to the other ones. I can see why as the staff takes very good care of you by providing "refills" on the side dishes (banchan) and constantly checks up on the tables to make sure no banchan plates go empty. [caption id="attachment_18391" align="alignnone" width="600"] BCD Tofu fried fish[/caption] The best part to start off with is this awesome Fried Fish! Okay, that fish in the picture above looks small and sad...but it was delicious! Crispy and salty so eat it with the hot sticky rice and be careful you don't end up eating the bones. Another thing I enjoy about eating at BCD Tofu House are the different variety of banchan, plus you just never know what you'll get as the day and the locations banchan selections vary. [caption id="attachment_18393" align="alignnone" width="600"] BCD sweet potato banchan and eggs[/caption] Here, we got some yummy sweet potato which is lightly salted, soy bean banchan, seasoned seaweed, and some raw eggs to add to the Soon Dubu. I just love the jello-like banchan (nokdumuk) made of mung bean starch that's lightly seasoned with sesame oil, soy sauce, and green onion. [caption id="attachment_18390" align="alignnone" width="600"] BCD Tofu kimchi[/caption] The thinly slices kimchi and the normal kimchi was yummy and fresh. [caption id="attachment_18395" align="alignnone" width="600"] BCD Spicy Pork Bulgogi Combo[/caption] I usually order my Soon Tofu mild but I decided to take the risk and order it spicy! I love spicy food so thought it wouldn't hurt to try it. Mmm mmm, glad I ordered it spicy since it had a lot more flavor to it and it's definitely much more salty then my usual mild spice. The spicy soup contains peppers, spicy oil, and little bits of jalapenos. [caption id="attachment_18396" align="alignnone" width="600"] BCD Galbi Combo[/caption] We had a big group here for dinner so there was so many different dishes. We ordered the Galbi Combo with Spicy Beef Soon Dubu, a Kimchi Spicy Soon Dubu, and a Pork Marinated Combo which also comes with Soon Dubu. [caption id="attachment_18394" align="alignnone" width="600"] BCD Atka Mackerel Combo[/caption] Last year I ordered the BCD Atla Mackerel and loved it so much I had to order it again. The way it was presented and prepared last year was so much better but the current one was still extremely tasty non-the-less. The fish is scary looking and it's a huge portion so it's more than enough to share with 4 people.  Squeeze some lemon juice on top to help balance out how salty the fish is. Pairing it the sticky white rice helps tone down the saltiness. This location also has a ice cream section where you serve yourself a little serving of ice cream to complete the dinner.
