My friends and I just happened to pass by a restaurant called Honey Pig BBQ dishing up Korean BBQ only because the sushi restaurant we were planning to go to was closed for renovation. I just had KBBQ over the weekend too, but I said hey, why not. This place just opened in the summer of 2012 in Irvine CA and has been getting some attention. There’s few other locations as well It seems like a lot of Korean BBQ places has been opening up too o I thought this was a great opportunity to check what it’s all about.

I tried their chigae (soup). The soy bean soup was under the lunch special for $8.50 which included squash, beef, shrimp, onions, tofu, and clam.  I was surprised to see all the seafood and the beef because the menu didn’t list any of those ingredients. My bf would not have liked this one because he’s not a seafood person. That’s something they need to show on their menu since people have their preferences.

Like any Korean restaurants, ban chan (side dishes) are always served. I would say the soup was quite salty which is what I expected, but it was way too salty. It came with a side of white rice which is something I don’t really care for, but because of its salty content, I had to balance it by eating some rice.
